Most babies get a rash some time.  It can be due to teething, when they are ill, change of diet or detergent residue build up.  It’s unlikely to be caused by the liners.

Some advice generally for avoiding nappy rash with real nappies:

  1. Change the nappy regularly and make sure your baby gets lots of ‘bare bottom’ time
  2. Use water for cleaning your baby – not single-use wipes as they have alcohol in them that dries and weakens the skin
  3. Use a vegetable oil such as sweet almond oil or olive – these feed and strengthen the skin
  4. Use as little detergent as possible when washing nappies and ensure they are thoroughly rinsed.  You may find eco-balls are best as they leave no detergent residue on the nappies.

If the rash doesn’t clear up within a few days please consult a doctor or health visitor.
