Washable Nappy Laundry Services

Laundry services are a great way to start out with reusable nappies, especially during the first six months when you’ve got more than enough to do. They offer a weekly service to your door, replace dirty nappies with a fresh supply, which have been laundered to standards set by the Environmental Health Department and complies with NHS guidelines.

HOW THE SERVICE WORKS

Both Nappy Ever After and Number One for Nappies use cotton prefold nappies. You may be able to request cotton shaped (fitted) nappies. You hire these nappies and pay for the weekly hire/delivery/collection service. The weekly cost for the service is from £10 – £15 and you can use your reusable nappy voucher towards the initial cost. You will need waterproof wraps to use over the nappies, these can either be hired or bought separately. The wraps are washed by you at home. You may also like to buy and use disposable or washable liners in the nappy.

Once a week on the agreed day, your laundry service provider will pick up the dirty nappies and replace them with clean laundered cotton nappies, enough to last you the week. Hygiene claims are validated through accurate temperature measurement. Thermal disinfection occurs via a 3 minute wash at 72°C (exceeding current UK guidelines). The delivery service is either carried out by electric bike (Nappy Ever After) or by van (Number One for Nappies).

We recommend giving the laundry service a go for at least 6 – 8 weeks, this will give you time to establish a nappy changing routine. Some parents use the service all the way up until their baby is out of nappies.
