Real Nappies for London Breakfast Briefing

When: Thursday 26 April 2018

Time: 8.30am – 11.00am

Where: Council Chamber, Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, London WC1H 9JE

To celebrate Real Nappy Week (23 – 29 April 2018), Real Nappies for London is inviting delegates to a breakfast briefing at Camden Town Hall on Thursday 26 April. The briefing will look at incentive schemes, such as RNfL, and how they can play a vital role in helping to achieve Local Authority waste reduction targets, develop environmental and social values, mutually beneficial to borough residents and Local Authorities.

The financial and environmental burdens of landfill as well as the London Assembly expressing the need to further reduce waste are key drivers for London to rethink its strategy on reducing waste generation and cost of management. The use of modern reusable nappies works at the top of the waste hierarchy, helping to reduce an estimated 3 billion single-use nappies ending up in landfill or incineration annually, in England. Reusable nappies also contribute to the circular economy achieved through long-lasting product design, reuse and sharing networks.

Attending this event offers a unique opportunity to discuss the latest academic research findings (published) from Real Nappies for London, as well as hearing from guest speakers including Charles Warner (researcher, University of Northampton), Local Green Points and UK cloth nappy manufacturer Bambino Mio, on issues such as waste prevention, cost savings, social cohesion and stimulating the market for real nappy usage. This briefing will provide insight into moving the agenda of waste prevention forward with increased knowledge and expertise.

The event is free and open to all Local Authorities and representatives within the industry – please register to attend via Eventbrite

Refreshments will be provided.
